Ongoing engineering within an agreed scope

Ongoing DevOps and SRE engineering support.

Ongoing engineering works when ownership is clear.

After onboarding and scope acceptance, we can provide ongoing support or embedded engineering around agreed systems and responsibilities. Scope, capacity, service hours, response times and decision rights are agreed before work begins.

When this helps

Useful when a system needs regular care, a reliability backlog needs an owner, recurring changes must be handled safely or the team needs temporary engineering or SRE leadership around a defined mandate.

Typical work

  1. 01

IT Care around an accepted business IT or system scope: requests, prevention, monitoring, changes and recovery.

  2. 02

Embedded engineering or reliability capacity around an agreed production scope and backlog.

  3. 03

Where the core problem is the operating model, bounded SRE leadership and team enablement with an explicit mandate and handover.

What you get

What you get

  • A written service catalogue defining managed systems, exclusions, service hours, owners and escalation paths.
  • A prioritised reliability or engineering backlog governed by explicit monthly capacity and decision rights.
  • Regular operational reporting, runbooks, risk visibility and an exit-ready handover package.

How the engagement works

How the engagement works

  1. 01

Run paid onboarding to map systems, dependencies, access, incidents, owners and required service commitments.

  2. 02

Confirm that the requested responsibility fits the available capacity and control; exclude unsafe or unobservable scope.

  3. 03

Operate the agreed cadence: incident ownership where contracted, backlog review, readiness, observability and small bounded changes.

  4. 04

Review capacity and risk regularly, split major projects into their own scope, and maintain an explicit exit and handover path.

Boundaries

Boundaries

  • Ongoing engineering is not unlimited DevOps outsourcing and does not create responsibility without corresponding access and authority.
  • 24/7 coverage, after-hours response and emergency work are not included unless explicitly designed and staffed.
  • Large migrations, platform rebuilds and materially new system domains are qualified separately from normal monthly capacity.

Acceptance & handover

Acceptance & handover

  • Managed and excluded systems, service hours, response targets and escalation routes are written down.
  • The client can see what capacity was used, what risk changed and what remains in the backlog.
  • Changes within scope follow agreed approval, rollback and verification rules.
  • Documentation and ownership are maintained so the service can be transferred or ended without hidden dependency.

Common questions

Common questions

Is this a dedicated engineer for anything we need?

No. The service owns a defined function and backlog within agreed capacity; unrelated work does not become included by default.

Does ongoing mean 24/7?

No. Service hours and response commitments are explicit. Around-the-clock coverage needs a separately viable operating model.

What happens when a task is too large for the retainer?

It is re-qualified as a separate project or scheduled through an explicit capacity decision rather than silently consuming the service.

Evidence, not promises

Evidence, not promises

Our public engineering method uses the same sequence: establish facts, define the boundary, change safely and hand over a controlled state.

How we work

The result

Ownership that stays explicit

  • A known scope of systems and responsibilities with named decision rights.
  • A visible backlog and operating cadence rather than an undefined stream of requests.
  • Changes, incidents and recurring work are prioritised within the agreed scope and capacity.
  • Documentation and handover that keep the client in control if the engagement changes or ends.
